Week 10 of 14
Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel
Days 64 to 70: Jeremiah 5 to Ezekiel 30, 83 chapters.
Jeremiah preaches for forty years to a city that will not listen, and he lives to see it fall. His book is not arranged in time order, so do not worry when events jump around. Chapter 31 holds the promise of a new covenant written on the heart. Lamentations is five poems of grief over Jerusalem, with a turn toward hope in chapter 3. Ezekiel is a priest in exile in Babylon. His visions are strange and vivid, and in chapter 10 he watches the glory of God leave the temple.
Watch for the new covenant in Jeremiah 31.
It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his mercies don’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.Lamentations 3:22-23
