Week 2 of 14
The law in the wilderness
Days 8 to 14: Exodus 34 to Deuteronomy 13, 83 chapters.
This is the week many readers dread, and the one that rewards patience. Exodus closes with the tabernacle filled with God's glory. Leviticus explains how a holy God can live among an unholy people: sacrifices, priests, clean and unclean, and the Day of Atonement in chapter 16. Numbers counts the tribes, then records forty years of wandering after Israel refuses to enter the land. Deuteronomy begins Moses' last sermons on the edge of Canaan. If the lists slow you down, keep moving. The thread through the whole week is that God stays with a people who keep failing.
Watch for the Day of Atonement in Leviticus 16.
